Nitrofurantoin is used to treat urinary tract infections. Nitrofurantoin belongs to a class of medications called antibiotics. It works by killing the bacteria that cause infections.

Relieves pain, burning, irritation, and discomfort in the urinary tract, as well as the need to urinate urgently and frequently, all symptoms caused by urinary tract infections, surgery, injuries, or examinations. As an acidifier for the treatment of lower urinary tract irritation symptoms, it relieves symptoms of dysuria, frequency, burning, and urgency. It gives urine an orange or red color. It is an adjunct analgesic in the treatment of urinary tract infections such as pyelitis, pyelonephritis, urethritis, and urethrotrigonitis; as a prophylactic agent in the pre- and postoperative period and in instrumental urological examinations.

Once mixed, each 5 ml contains 500 mg of amoxicillin. THERAPEUTIC INDICATIONS: GIMALXINA is indicated for infections of the upper and lower respiratory tract, urinary tract, skin and soft tissue, systemic and gastrointestinal infections caused by susceptible organisms, and for the prophylaxis of endocarditis.

Ciprofloxacin is used to treat or prevent certain infections caused by bacteria such as pneumonia; gonorrhea (a sexually transmitted disease); typhoid fever (a serious infection common in developing countries); infectious diarrhea (infections that cause severe diarrhea); and infections of the skin, bones, joints, abdomen (stomach area), and prostate (male reproductive gland). Ciprofloxacin is also used to treat or prevent plague (a serious infection that may be intentionally spread as part of a bioterrorist attack) and inhalation anthrax (a serious infection that anthrax germs may intentionally spread into the air as part of a bioterrorist attack). Ciprofloxacin can also be used to treat bronchitis, sinus infections, or urinary tract infections, but it should not be used for bronchitis or sinus infections, or for some types of urinary tract infections if other treatment options are available. Ciprofloxacin extended-release (long-acting) tablets are used to treat kidney and urinary tract infections; however, some types of urinary tract infections should only be treated with ciprofloxacin extended-release tablets if no other treatment options are available. Phenazopyridine 100 mg, in a presentation of 20 tablets, is a urinary analgesic used to relieve the symptoms of urinary tract infections (UTIs), such as pain, burning, irritation, and urgency to urinate. Mechanism of Action Sulfamethoxazole and Trimethoprim Sulfamethoxazole competitively inhibits the utilization of para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA) in the synthesis of dihydrofolate produced in bacterial cells, producing bacteriostasis. Trimethoprim reversibly inhibits bacterial dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR), an enzyme active in the folate metabolic pathway, which converts dihydrofolate to tetrahydrofolate. Depending on the conditions, the effect could be bactericidal. Thus, trimethoprim and sulfamethoxazole block two consecutive steps in purine biosynthesis and, therefore, nucleic acids essential for many bacteria.
